Recap from previous Session
(To be read in a dramatic, classical theater voice)
(Enter CHORUS)
Hark, good gentles, and attend our play! Attend the tale of Session Sixty-Eight, Where shadows deep in Flamekeep held their sway, And heroes strove against a twisting fate.
First, mark Sarodan, in the lion’s den, A bloody deed upon his shadow blade. With silver tongue he calmed the fearful man, Lest screams of horror see his cause betrayed.
Through sacred halls, a ghost on silent feet, He sought a friend now lost to Lira’s grasp. He found a note, a final, desperate bleat: “They come for me!” it cried in mournful clasp.
Escaping thence, with fortune’s final whim, He turned a fatal stumble to a grace, And fled the fane, though chances were but slim, To bring his dark report back to this place.
Meanwhile, his friends, on clues both old and deep, Did seek the Abbey of the Resolute. Past watching eyes, into its halls they creep, Their whispered words a hopeful, soft salute.
A priest of faith, to Jaela’s cause still sworn, Doth hear their plea and points a secret way: “Seek ye the baker, on this grim-faced morn, Whose loyal heart still sees a brighter day!”
To Tanner Street they flew, a motley crew, Their parley strange, a play of foolish sport! But with a coin, their honest plea broke through, And from the dame, they gained their hoped support.
But lo! Outside, where stood the bold and strong, Sir Toriman and Elrath, brave and true, A patrol spied them, where they don’t belong! The chase is called! The hunt begins anew!
So ends our scene, with clash of steel to come, As heroes split, ‘gainst zealots five-to-two. Pray listen close, let not your ears be numb, For what shall pass when next we meet with you!
