Regarding Silas d’Cannith and House Cannith

Silas d’Cannith

This is the “Truth and Consequences” path. It’s dangerous and built on the party’s deep distrust of him.

  • The Situation: The House Cannith enclave in Flamekeep will appear normal from the outside. Lira is smart enough to avoid a direct conflict with a Dragonmarked House, so she is leaving them alone for now. This means Silas is not under immediate threat from her forces.

  • Silas’s Role: He is not a secret villain. He was a loyal company man, a high-level manager who was complicit through ignorance. He knew about “Project Radiance” but believed it was a next-generation weapon or power source, not an attempt to tamper with the very essence of creation.

  • The Confrontation: To speak with Silas, the party will need to infiltrate the enclave. The core of the scene is them presenting the undeniable proof from the Aegis Shard. His reaction should be in stages: initial denial, followed by shock, and finally crushing horror and guilt as he realizes his own unwitting role in causing the Mourning.

  • Potential Ally: If the party can successfully persuade the guilt-ridden Silas, he becomes their most valuable and dangerous ally. He can offer them a safe house, intelligence on the Cathedral’s defenses (which his House likely helped build), and access to resources.
