Host 1 (Orryn, calm, journalistic): Welcome back to Khorvaire’s Most Wanted, the only show that brings you the truth behind the headlines. I’m Orryn d’Sivis.
Host 2 (Joric, energetic, excitable): And I’m Joric Dorgan! And Orryn, the story we have today is an absolute bombshell coming out of the gray mists of the Mournland! We’ve got an exclusive report on the group calling themselves “The Flamebound”.
Orryn: That’s right, Joric. Our sources say the confrontation outside the Cannith tower in Making reached a stunning conclusion. The party’s paladin, Toriman, was stabilized, and the barbarian, Elrath, single-handedly neutralized the Warforged commander—grappling, shoving, and, according to our reports, even spitting on him before he was decapitated by a critical hit from the wizard, Sarodan.
Joric: Crazy! And you can’t forget the kobold, Took, who landed another crit, obliterating the last soldier. This team has some serious firepower, Orryn! Though, I’m getting a report here that Sarodan later tricked Took into giving their unconscious paladin… “snout-to-mouth resuscitation”? Is that right? A bit of strange field medicine, but it seems to have worked!
Orryn: Indeed. With the battle won, the party entered the tower. They bypassed the lower floors, heading straight to the rooftop, where they discovered the ruins of a deliberately destroyed teleportation circle. Our arcane experts confirm they salvaged some of the focusing crystals before descending into what appears to have been the Baron’s main office.
Joric: And what an office it was! Sources say they had to bypass a powerful magical trap, which sent the wizard Davira flying across the room, just to get to the loot! The loot is unbelievable, Orryn! A magical exploding handaxe that Elrath is now, quote, “in love with,” and a spell-weaving opal necklace for Sarodan. Talk about a pay-day!
Orryn: But the real story isn’t the treasure, Joric. It’s the information. While the kobold, Took, cracked a high-security safe containing files that unlocked a new level of power for the warforged, #13, Davira was busy at the main terminal. She slotted in the data shard they recovered from the “Aegis” construct… and what she found changes everything we thought we knew about the Mourning.
(Music becomes more serious and dramatic)
Orryn: We can now exclusively report that “Project Radiance” was a secret House Cannith project to create god-like, “Siberys-Touched” Warforged. They used the Creation Forge to channel the cosmic power of a celestial artifact, but the experiment failed catastrophically. The “Aegis” dragon, designed as a failsafe, absorbed the energy and became a world-breaking bomb. Its detonation, a conflict of pure creation and cold artifice, is what caused the Mourning.
Joric: Wait, you’re saying… House Cannith didn’t just have a part in it… they did it? And this party called “The Flamebound” might be the only group in the world who has the proof?
Orryn: That’s exactly right. And that’s where we leave them—in a ruined office, armed with world-shattering secrets and powerful new gear. The question now is: what will they do with this information?
