Secrets & Clues (Things the party should know…)

  • Kael: “The sooner the final shard is secured, the safer the Flame will be from the whispers of the Shadow. We must act swiftly. The Church offers its full support – what do you require?” (Pious urgency).
  • Borak’Han: “The vision was clear – the whispers seek it. Delay only aids them. My people know little of the interior Mournland, but the energies feel… turbulent. Proceed with wisdom and strength.” (Spiritual warning).

Recap from previous Session

Now, harken well, and I shall tell of the companions’ doings in Flamekeep town, ere darkness fell or morning crowned the towers renown. Young Took, he of the nimble hand, and Elrath, strong and bold, sought wisdom nigh the Silver Flame, a story to be told. They reached for light, but shadows stirred, and whispers met their ears; one heard, “He lies!”, the other, “Trust they shun!”, awaking inner fears. Disquiet filled their sturdy hearts, a riddle hard to guess; they vowed to share these words of doubt, and banish their distress.

Sir Toriman, the Kalashtar, whose spirit burned so bright, went forth on errands through the town, bathed in the day’s clear light. He sought stout gloves, and showed his blade, Thorncaller, sharp and keen, to learned folk of Cannith’s House, its history unseen. They marked its age, a sign of worth, but knew not all its lore; while #13 bought tools for craft, from wood and metal store. Then both sought news in common inns, where tales are often spun, but found scant truth, just drunken boasts, beneath the setting sun. Though one small clue, a barkeep gave (when coin had crossed his palm): a man quite cross with Holy Church, arrived there nightly, calm… or not so calm.

Meanwhile, in dusty library halls, Davira searched with might, and Sarodan beside her stood, to bring dark things to light. They found the sign Toriman bore – the Flame with fissure cracked! In ancient texts, ‘twas linked to doubt, by shadowed whispers backed. A mark perhaps of little weight, or malice hiding deep? The pages hinted, nothing more, secrets the shadows keep.

As evening fell, the friends convened, their findings to relate, when lo! A messenger appeared outside their inn’s strong gate! Archon Kael bid them attend, when morn broke o’er the land, and wise Borak’Han too would be, to help them understand. But peace was short! A listening ear! A sound outside the door! Sarodan flung it open wide, on mischief to make war! A cloaked shape fled into the night, out window swift it leapt! The chase was on! Through winding streets, the brave companions swept!

Like hunters swift, they gave pursuit, o’er rooftop, street, and stair! One fleeing rogue struck #13 down, with poison unaware! But Toriman called power forth, his voice a holy plea, and held that villain frozen fast, for all the world to see! So stands our tale: one foe is caught, held fast by binding spell, while Elrath and #13 approach, their tale of capture tell. The other flees, a shadow swift, with Sarodan Hasted nigh! The chase continues! What deeds await, beneath the Thrane night sky?

(Transition back) “The night is dark, the chase is on! What happens next…?”
