Location: Q’barra Time Given: Quest Giver: Silas d’Cannith

Information

Arriving in Newthrone, the group has been tasked to meet with the envoy of House Cannith. The envoy, Wren d’Cannith, has a mysterious map that he hands over to the group.

The Forge

The Forge is hidden deep within an ancient structure (Age of Demons?). The forge, is an otherwordly eldritch machine that is part construct, part organic. A bioluminescent tree-like plant is enveloping it, giving it the power it needs to function. Embedded in the forge, the Shard 2 The Will of the Forge (Action) is placed.

The forge serves as a stabilising force. It maintains the balance of the jungle’s ecosystem. Without it, the jungle could experience catastrophic changes, such as rampant wildfires, floods, or the emergence of dangerous creatures. In time, the jungles of Q’barra would be turned into a desolate wasteland.

The forge is guarded by a powerful entity that is bound to it’s protection. The guardian is reluctant to allow the party to take the shard, fearing the consequences of its removal.

The chamber is a colossal cavern, its walls adorned with bioluminescent fungi and strange, twisting vines. A massive lake, its waters as dark as obsidian, fills the center of the cavern. At the heart of the lake, a colossal, eldritch machine rises, its intricate gears and tubes glowing with arcane energy. A massive, bioluminescent tree, its roots entwined with the machine, provides the life force that powers the forge.

  • The Will of the Forge: Silas suggests that the “Will of the Forge” shard might be embedded within the forge itself or guarded by a powerful creature protecting the forge’s secrets.
  • Dangerous Terrain: Navigating the Q’barran jungle will be a perilous journey filled with deadly creatures, treacherous terrain, and the ever-present threat of disease.
  • Tribal Encounters: The party might encounter various tribes, some friendly, some hostile, who possess knowledge of the jungle and its secrets.

Potential Challenges:

  • Jungle Warfare: The party will need to adapt to jungle combat, facing new threats like poisonous creatures, ambush predators, and hidden traps.

The Jungle Forge: A Balance of Power

That’s a fantastic idea! Here’s how you could incorporate the Jungle Forge as a crucial element of the Q’barran ecosystem:

The Forge’s Purpose

  • Maintaining Balance: The forge acts as a stabilizing force, maintaining the delicate balance of the jungle’s ecosystem. Without it, the jungle could experience catastrophic changes, such as rampant wildfires, floods, or the emergence of dangerous creatures.
  • Elemental Equilibrium: The forge might regulate the flow of elemental energy in the jungle, preventing the dominance of any single element. This balance is essential for the health and vitality of the ecosystem.
  • A Hidden Guardian: The forge might be guarded by a powerful spirit or entity that is bound to its protection. This guardian might be reluctant to allow the party to take the shard, fearing the consequences of its removal.

The Moral Dilemma

  • The Greater Good: The party must weigh the benefits of obtaining the shard against the potential consequences of disrupting the jungle’s balance.
  • Alternate Solutions: The party might explore alternative ways to obtain the power they seek, such as finding another source of elemental energy or using a different artifact.
  • The Consequences of Failure: If the party fails to find an alternative solution and the forge is destroyed or deactivated, the jungle could face catastrophic consequences.

Here’s a possible scenario:

  • The party arrives at the Jungle Forge and discovers its true purpose. The guardian of the forge warns them of the dangers of removing the shard.
  • The party must decide whether to take the shard and risk the consequences, or find a way to obtain the power they seek without disrupting the balance.
  • If the party chooses to take the shard, they might face challenges and consequences later in their journey.

This plotline introduces a complex moral dilemma that forces the party to consider the long-term consequences of their actions. It also adds a layer of urgency and stakes to their quest.

  • Get creative and come up with something of your own, if it’s doable, I’ll be happy to work something out!

Regarding finances, the only aspect that plays in is that your current tier determines what type of transport you have access to. At Modest , which I believe you all are, you have access to Lightning Rail (standard fare), Lyrandar (Elemental) Galleon, Magebred coach and anything simpler.
